Lavender Short Knit Vest

You’ll need:

450g of lavender color Mondial Merino Maxi yarn (50% merino wool, 50% acryl; 60m/100g);

Straight knitting needles 7,5;

Auxiliary needle;

Pin;

Tapestry needle.

Size: S.

Note: in order to make smaller/bigger size, you should increase/decrease 4 cm (4 sts) in width and 2 cm (4 rows) in length.

Used Patterns

Double rib: cast on the half of the needed sts with contrast yarn.

1^st row: with working yarn: * 1 knit st, 1 yarn over*; repeat from * to *;

2^nd row: * yarn over as knit st, slip 1 st as purl, yarn in front of work*; repeat from * to *, take off the contrast yarn in the ready-made cloth;

Stockinette stitch: in RS row – knit sts, in WS row – purls;

Wrong-side pattern: in RS row – purls, in WS row – knit sts;

Cable (8 sts): 1^st row: knit;

2^nd and all the even rows: purls;

3^rd row: cross 8 sts to the left (leave 4 sts on the auxiliary needle in front of work, 4 knit sts, 4 sts from the auxiliary needle as knit sts;

5^th, 7^th and 9^th rows: knit sts.

Repeat 1^st-10^th rows.

Stitches control: 11 sts x 15 rows = 10 x 10cm.

Instructions

Make back, front and sleeves as one-piece cloth: cast on 63 sts and make 4 rows (1 cm) of double rib. Then, knit in the following way, decrease 1 x 3 sts in the 1^st row: 8 sts of pattern with cable, 1 st of wrong-side pattern, 16 sts of stockinette stitch, 1 st of wrong-side pattern, 8 sts of pattern with cable, 1 st of wrong-side pattern, 16 sts of stockinette stitch, 1 st of wrong-side pattern, 8 sts of pattern with cable, 1 st of wrong-side pattern, 16 sts of stockinette stitch, 1 st of wrong-side pattern, 8 sts of pattern with cable. Increase 12 x 1 st in every 2^nd row from both sides of each group of 16 sts of stockinette stitch (= 108 sts). In 29 cm from the beginning of rib, leave all the sts. Make arm-hole chamfers, sleeves and neck-hole in the following way: cast on 37 sts for each sleeve, make 4 rows (1 cm) of double rib and leave all the sts; cast on all the previously left sts for arm-hole chamfers and knit the first 25 sts, transfer the next 8 sts (right arm-hole) to the pin, cast on the central 25 sts of sleeve (transfer 6 edging sts to the pins), knit 42 sts of back, transfer the next 8 sts (left arm-hole) to the pin, cast on the central 25 sts of the second sleeve (transfer 6 edging sts to the pins) and finish the row. Then, work due to the ornament, make sleeves with stockinette stitch and decrease 1 x 1 st in the next row of each sleeve. For neck-hole, decrease 12 x 1 st in every 2^nd row from both sides after the first 9 sts and before the last 9 sts; at the same time, decrease 11 x 1 st in every 2^nd row from both sides for arm-hole chamfers. In 17 cm from the beginning of arm-hole chamfers and neck-hole, knit on all the sts of 6 rows (1,5 cm) with double rib and bind off the sts with kitchener’s stitch. Sew up the sleeves in the arm-holes.
