Crochet hook 5 mm;

Leather and Chain Purse Handle;

Gauge / Finished Size: 7 dc stitches and 4 rows per 2”

Notes

The turning ch 2 does not count as a stitch throughout pattern.

Purse is worked in rows as one continuous piece, then seamed up the sides to form the pouch and flap.

Instructions

Part One

With Main body color (Ecru) ch 31.

Row 1: Dec across 3rd and 4th ch from hook, dc in next 12 ch, place 3dc in next ch, dc in next 12 ch, dec across last 2 ch. [2dec, 27dc]

Row 2: Dec over first 2 sts, dc 12, 3dc in next st, dc 12, dec over last 2 sts. [2dec, 27dc]

Row 3-17: Repeat Row 2.

Part Two

Switch to accent color (Jade).

Row 18-34: Repeat Row 2.

Fasten off and weave in ends.

Finishing

Fold beginning edge up, and top edge down to create the shape of your purse.

Fold the flap back up, then pin together the beginning points to the body of the bag with your stitch markers. (I pinned mine after row 27.)

Turn pouch inside out, sew each side with a yarn needle and 2’ strand of main color yarn.

Cut (8) 12” long strands of yarn for a tassel. Fold them in half, and attach to the point of the flap with a lark’s head knot.

Chain approx. 32” for a strap. Fasten off, slip through the corners of the purse, and double knot to secure them.
