First Knitting Memories
Hello, my dears!
As a good tradition, I want to wish you nice day and mood!
Yesterday, my younger daughter (she's 12) came to me and asked to show you how to make amigurumi toys. She wanted to make the toy without learning how to make simple thinhs. Ha-ha.
She reminded me myself in the childhood, I'd also wanted to get the ready-made nice scarf.
Do you remember your first experience?

My first experience was my aunt teaching me how to crochet. She gave me a crochet needle and a skein of yarn, then taught me how to single crochet. She and I sat and crocheted our pieces for a couple of hours that day. I was in 3rd grade and was hooked. ?

I had higher expectations, I wanted to make myself a granny square poncho (it was the 70s). Some my grandma sat me down and said before I could make a granny square I had to learn how to chain, sc, dc, etc. on a dish cloth. I tried for a while and could not figure it out, so in frustration I threw the hook down and walked outside. She made me come back and say, you may not like it but you have to try, you have to do 10 rows and if you still don't like it you can put if away. After what seemed like hours, on about row 7, I started to figure it out, and the rest they say is history. I am not an «empty nest mom» and admittedly I knit more than crochet these days, I am forever grateful to my Grandma for making me come back in and try it again. Especially these days, what do people do at home who don't have a hobbys!!!
