For this tutorial, I used a K crochet hook and some bulky weight yarn.

Begin with a multiple of 6+2 (for the swatch shown in this tutorial, I did 20 chains),

Row One

Work a sc in 2nd chain from hook.

Then work a sc, ch 3, skip 3 stitches.

Then *3 sc into each of the next 3 stitches, ch 3, skip 3 chains.

Repeat from * across until just 2 chains remain.

Sc in the remaining 2 chains.

Row Two

Ch 1 and turn (does not count as stitch),

Then skip 2 stitches and work 7 dc in ch 3 space.

*skip the next stitch, sc into the next stitch, skip next stitch, then work 7 dc in ch 3 space.

Repeat from * until you have 2 stitches remaining.

Skip next stitch and sc into the last stitch.

Row Three

Ch 4 and turn (counts as chain space) skip 3 stitches.

Then sc into each of the next 3 stitches. *ch 3, skip 5 stitches, sc into each of the next 3 stitches.

Repeat from * until you have 2 stitches remaining.

Ch 1, skip a stitch, then dc in last stitch. (ch 1 and dc count as chain space).

Row Four

Ch 3 and turn (counts as dc) work 3 dc in next chain space, skip a stitch.

Sc into the next stitch, then skip the next stitch.

Then work *7 dc in chain 3 space, skip a stitch, work a sc into the next stitch, skip a stitch.

Repeat from * to the end.

Then 4 dc in the chain space at the end of the row.

Row Five

Ch 1 and turn (does not count as stitch), work a sc in each of the next 2 stitches, then ch 3, then skip 5 stitches.

*Work a sc in each of the next 3 stitches, ch 3, then skip 5 stitches; repeat from * until you have 2 stitches remaining.

Sc in each of the remaining 2 stitches.

To continue, repeat rows 2-5 until it is as tall as you like! Happy crocheting, lovelies!
