This headband pattern is available in 2 sizes: preteen and teen - adult women

Preteen: Headband measures unstretched approx. 19 inches around and is 4 inches (10 cm) wide

Teen - Adult woman : Headband measures unstretched 20 inches around and is 4.3 inches (11 cm) wide.

The piece has a lot of stretch. You can easily adjust the size of the headband by working more or less stitches and rounds as in the pattern indicated.

GAUGE

13 sts and 14 rounds (unstretched) = 4 inches x 4 inches (10 x 10 cm)

Stitch for gauge: yarn over slip stitch worked in back loops only (yo-slst-blo)!

SUPPLIES
  • 35 g of Red Heart Super Saver yarn ( yarn weight: Medium 4).
  • I have used color Buff (for the beige one) and Caffe Latte for the braun earwarmer.
  • 5.5 mm crochet hook (I have used Furls Wooden Hook, Cocobolo)
  • yarn needle
  • stitch markers or yarn in other color (optional)
  • scissors
  • optional: a pretty rhinestone button or leather tag

STITCHES AND ABBREVIATIONS (US TERMS)

- ch: chain

- back bump of chains. Click here for my tutorial.

- slst : slip stitch

- slst blo: slip stitch back loop only

- st: stitch

Special Stitches:

Yarn Over Slip Stitch (yo-slst): Yarn over (yo) and insert the hook into indicated st; yarn over and draw the yarn through.

(You have now 3 loops on the hook).

Having the 3 loops on hook, pull/slip the first loop on hook through the next 2 loops on hook to complete a Yarn Over Slip Stitch (yo-slst).

Yarn over slip stitch back loops only (yo-slst-blo): work the stitch as described above, but inserting the hook only into the back loops of the stitches.

NOTES

the ch1 at the beginning of the rows will not count as a st

Always count your stitches! Be careful not to lose the sts at the end of the rounds! You might like to use sts markers into first st and last st of the rounds!

The ear warmer is worked in the round, but turning after joining with slip stitch into round! ! After each round you will change the direction of the work!

The stitch pattern is reversible, you can choose either side as the right side.
