There are a lot of ways how to cast on stitches in knitting. Today I want to share with you one of the method, which is called criss-cross. It is used when it is necessary to start knitting your work with an ornate pattern, and not traditionally with rib. Such a criss-cross cast on stitches will give the finished work a denser structure, making the edge neat and almost perfectly even. In addition, your product will look more voluminous due to such an original decor. Another plus of the criss-cross cast on is its ease of implementation.

Instructions

You need to unwind the yarn from a common ball and fold it three times. You have the working thread located on the first finger, the unwound yarn and folded three times should be located on the thumb, and the resulting bend must be placed in the center.
Insert the knitting needles into the stitch, that formed earlier. Pull a thin work yarn and hold the stitch on the knitting needle. Insert the knitting needle into the stitch on the thumb, which was formed from a triple folded thread, starting from the bottom, and then up. Grab a thin thread and return to the stitch that formed on the thumb. From a large one you need to fold the stitch, and then tighten the yarn. At least two links should now appear on the knitting needles.

Then grab and hold the thread counterclockwise while inserting the knitting needles on the other side. Grab the yarn on the second finger of the hand and return to the stitch located on the thumb.

Now slip the stitch from the main finger and tighten the main thread. Pass to the other side. Again, change the direction of the main finger, that is, counterclockwise. Cast on 20 stitches. And add two selvedge stitches, one of which is knitted from the outside. On the knitting needles stitchess are arranged in pairs, covered by a three-layer thread.

Remove one knitting needle and then unfold your work in the opposite direction. Throw the main thread coming from the ball through the second finger of the hand. Triple yarn will hang down at this time. Do not forget that the first edge item is removed without knitting. After completing the criss-cross cast on, it is necessary to switch to a garter knitting. Just knit all the links of the faces. way, and make the last edge inside out. Turn the other way and tie the second strip in the same way as the first. The third row fits in the same way.

The reverse side of the work is always the same with the front.

Having knitted a little, you will get a work with a relief edge and a slight thickening on it. It is recommended to knit the first row of purls. Then you can start knitting the pattern.
