Abbreviations:

  • st – stitch
  • sts – stitches
  • ch – chain
  • sl st – slip stitch
  • sc – single crochet
  • hdc – half double crochet
  • dc – double crochet

Materials:

  • Any thickness crochet cotton or yarn, I used Scheepjes Maxi Sweet Treat 2 ply crochet cotton color (106) Snow White.
  • A crochet hook, I used a 1mm hook.
  • A darning needle to weave in ends.
  • Scissors.

Size:

Large cat (Using 8 ply yarn & a 3mm hook): 6cm wide x 8cm high or 2.5” wide x 3” high

Medium cat (Using 4 ply crochet cotton & a 1.5mm hook): 4cm wide x 6cm high or 1.5” wide x 2.5” high

Small cat (Using 2 ply crochet cotton & a 1mm hook): 3cm wide x 4.5cm high or 1” wide x 1.75” high

Head and Body:

Using (106) Snow White work 6 ch.

Row 1: Work 1 sc in 2nd ch from hook, 1 hdc in next ch, 1 dc in following ch, 1 hdc in next ch, 1 sc in last ch. Turn. (5 sts)

Row 2: 1 ch, work 1 sc in 1st st, 1 hdc in next st, 1 dc in following st, 1 hdc in next st, 1 sc in last st. Turn. (5 sts)

Row 3: Work 1 sl st in each of 1st 3 sts, 1 ch, work 2 sc in 3rd st. Turn. (2 sts)

Row 4: 1 ch, work 1 sc in each st. Turn. (2 sts)

Row 5: 1 ch, work 2 sc in 1st st, 1 sc in last st. Turn. (3 sts)

Row 6: 1 ch, work 1 sc in each st. Turn. (3 sts)

Row 7: 1 ch, work 1 sc in each of 1st 2 sts, 2 sc in last st. Turn. (4 sts)

Row 8: 1 ch, work 1 sc in each st. Turn. (4 sts)

Row 9: 1 ch, work 2 sc in 1st st, 1 sc in each of next 2 sts, 2 sc in last st. Turn. (6 sts)

Row 10: 1 ch, work 1 sc in each of 1st 3 sts, 2 sc in next st, 1 sc in each st to end. Turn. (7 sts)

Rows 11-13: 1 ch, work 1 sc in each st. Turn. (7 sts)

Row 14: 1 ch, work a joined sc over 1st 2 sts, 1 sc in each of next 3 sts, a joined sc over last 2 sts. Turn. (5 sts)

Row 15: 1 ch, work 1 sc in 1st st, 1 hdc in next st, 1 dc in following st, 1 hdc in next st, 1 sc in last st. Don’t turn or fasten off.

Neatening Row, Ears and Tails

1 ch, work 1 sl st in each st to st after the side middle st of head where shown.

3 ch, work 1 sc in 2nd ch from hook, 1 hdc in last ch, 1 sl st in each of next 4 sts on head, 3 ch, work 1 sc in 2nd ch from hook, 1 hdc in last ch, work 1 sl st in each st to start of row 15.

Work 16 ch for tail, sl st in 2nd ch from hook, 1 sc in each of next 3 ch, a joined sc over following 2 ch, 1 sc in each of next 8 ch, 2 sc in last ch, 1 sl st in each remaining st of body. Fasten off.

To Make Up:

Weave in ends.

Cat with Tail on Right Side

Work the cat the same as the other cat to neatening row.

Work 16 ch for tail, sl st in 2nd ch from hook, 1 sc in each of next 3 ch, 2 sc in following ch, 1 sc in each of next 8 ch, a joined sc over last 2 ch, work 1 sl st in each st to st after the side middle st of head where shown. 3 ch, work 1 sc in 2ndch from hook, 1 hdc in last ch, 1 sl st in each of next 4 sts on head, 3 ch, work 1 sc in 2nd ch from hook, 1 hdc in last ch, work 1 sl st in each st to end of row. Fasten off. Weave in ends.
