Crochet Summer Bolero Shrug

BODY

Using a 3.5mm crochet hook, Ch 10(15, 20, 25, 30, 35, 40, 45, 50)

R1: Working into the third chain from the hook, hdc across, then ch2, turn your work (8, 13, 18, 23, 28, 33, 38, 43, 48)

R2: Blhdc across, then ch2, turn your work (8, 13, 18, 23, 28, 33, 38, 43, 48)

Repeat R2 for a total number of 65(70, 75, 80, 85, 90, 95, 100, 105) rows.

R66 (71, 76, 81, 86, 91, 96, 101, 106): Working onto the length of the ribbing – ch2, dc across, at the end of the row you’re going to then ch6 and turn your work

I had around 105 stitches, but the amount of stitches you have can vary depending on the yarn you used, and where you placed your stitches (since there aren’t specific stitch holes)

R67 (72, 77, 82, 87, 92, 97, 102, 107): Working into the third stitch, dtr, *ch2, dtr* repeat ** all across the row. Ch2, then turn your work. (30, 35, 40, 45, 50, 55, 60, 65, 70)

R68 (73, 78, 83, 88, 93, 98, 103, 108): Dc all across in the dtr and 2 in each ch2 spaces (100, 105, 110, 115, 120, 125, 130, 135, 140). At the end of the row, ch4 and turn your work.

R69 (74, 79, 84, 89, 94, 99, 104, 109): Sk2, dc into the third stitch from your hook, *ch2, sk2, dc* Repeat ** all across the row. (30, 35, 40, 45, 50, 55, 60, 65, 70). At the end of the row, ch2 and turn your work.

R70 (75, 80, 85, 90, 95, 100, 105, 110): Dc all across in the dc and 2 in each ch2 spaces (100, 105, 110, 115, 120, 125, 130, 135, 140).

For the back panel: repeat R67 (72, 77, 82, 87, 92, 97, 102, 107) to R70 (75, 80, 85, 90, 95, 100, 105, 110) for a total of 3(4,5,6,7,8,9,10,11) times

For the front panel repeat R67 (72, 77, 82, 87, 92, 97, 102, 107) to R70 (75, 80, 85, 90, 95, 100, 105, 110) for a total of 2(3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10) times

For the back panel, once you are done with the total amount of rows – leave a long yarn tail and cut the yarn before tying it off.

To create the neck panel on the front panel, divide your total number of stitches in three. For me, I had 35 stitches each from 105 stitches total. Then work the same pattern by repeating R67 (72, 77, 82, 87, 92, 97, 102, 107) to R70 (75, 80, 85, 90, 95, 100, 105, 110) on only TWO of the 35 of the stitches, leaving the middle 1/3 of the total amount of stitches empty to create the neck hole.

After you’re done repeating the pattern on both sides to create the neckhole, you would leave a yarn tail on both sides before tying it off and moving onto the sleeves.

SLEEVES x2

Using a 3.5mm crochet hook, Ch 15 (20, 25, 30, 35, 40, 45, 50, 55)

R1: Working into the third chain from the hook, hdc across, then ch2, turn your work (13, 18, 23, 28, 33, 38, 43, 48, 53)

R2: Blhdc across, then ch2, turn your work (13, 18, 23, 28, 33, 38, 43, 48, 53)

Repeat R2 for a total number of 18(23, 28, 33, 38, 43, 48, 53, 58) rows.

R19 (24, 29, 34, 39, 44, 49, 54, 59): Working onto the length of the ribbing – ch2, *dcinc, dc* across, at the end of the row you’re going to then ch6 and turn your work.

For the two sleeves: repeat R67 (72, 77, 82, 87, 92, 97, 102, 107) to R70 (75, 80, 85, 90, 95, 100, 105, 110) for a total of 10(11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18) times

Leave a long yarn tail to sew the sleeves shut, and tie it off.

Assembly

Fold the two sleeves each in half and sew them together. Sew the front and back panel together by connecting them at the shoulder seam, then sew together the side seams of the front and back panel with the sleeves as you remember to leave a big arm hole for the sleeves.
