Notes

I used acrylic worsted weight for the crochet banana bag, but any yarn type works.
The finished banana bag is about 12 inches long.

The pattern uses basic solid granny squares, but you can use any single-color granny square for a recognizable banana shape.

Instructions

Solid Granny Squares: Make x4
This pattern is worked in rounds.

Round 1: Using the yellow, make a mr, ch 2 and then dc x3 in the circle. Ch x2, dc x3, ch x2 and dc x3, ch x2 and dc x3, ch x2 and join the first dc. You should have 4 sides. Pull the magic circle closed and you can see you have a small square.

Round 2-5: Ch x2. Dc in each dc stitch from the previous round, dc x2, ch x2, dc x2 in each chx2 corner stitch. Then join to the first dc you made when you get to the end of each round. After the last round fasten off and weave in any tails.

Small Brown Square:

This is for the bottom end of the banana.
Round 1: Using the brown, make a mr, ch 2 and then dc x3 in the circle. Ch x2, dc x3, ch x2 and dc x3, ch x2 and dc x3, ch x2 and join the first dc. You should have 4 sides. Pull the magic circle closed and you can see you have a small square. Fasten off the yarn, and leave a tail for sewing.

Large Brown Square:

This is the stem end of the banana.
Round 1: Using the brown, make a mr, ch 2 and then dc x3 in the circle. Ch x2, dc x3, ch x2 and dc x3, ch x2 and dc x3, ch x2 and join the first dc.
Round 2: Ch x2. Dc in each dc stitch from the previous round, dc x2, ch x2, dc x2 in each chx2 corner stitch. Then join to the first dc you made when you get to the end of each round. After this round fasten off and leave a tail for sewing.

Banana Spots:

Small Banana Spot: Make x2
Round 1: Using the brown yarn, make a mr and make sc x6 in the circle. If you find it difficult making a magic ring you can chain 2 and then crochet sc x6 in the second chain from the hook. (6)

Large Banana Spot: Make x1
Round 1: Using the brown yarn, make a mr and make sc x6 in the circle. If you find it difficult making a magic ring you can chain 2 and then crochet sc x6 in the second chain from the hook. (6)
Round 2: Inc in every sc. (12)

Sewing:

Sew the yellow squares together as shown in the picture. You want to fold the 2 squares on the end to become triangles, so half of the square is on the front and back.. If you want to add a zipper and have the bag open like a traditional sling bag, leave the top open.
Sew the small triangle to one end of the banana, and the larger brown square at the opposite side. Fold the larger square in half before sewing it so it has a more thin stem like appearance.

Sew the banana spots to the banana.

Handle:

You can either buy a strap for your banana bag, or make one.
If you want to make the banana bag strap, this is what I do:

Ch x6,
Make a sc in the second stitch from the hook. Then sc for the rest of the row (5). Then ch x1 and turn.
Sc in every stitch (5).

Repeat until the handle is the length you want (100 rows is roughly the length you want) and then sew it to the bag ends.
All you have to do now is line the crochet bag and add a zipper! You can use regular thread and needle for this.
And now you have your very own crochet sling bag that looks like a banana bag.
