Crochet Bunny Wabbit

You will need:

DK cotton yarn and a 3.5mm crochet hook or aran cotton and a 4.5mm hook

A small amount of white cotton yarn for the tail
2 black safety eyes or beads
Polyester stuffing
For the little carrots on sticks you will need a small amount of orange and green cotton yarn, polyester stuffing and a cocktail stick
Abbreviations: (UK terms)
ch - chain
sl st - slip stitch
dc - double crochet
dec - decrease (dc two together)

Body (using main colour)
Work in continuous rounds throughout unless stated
Ch 2
Round 1: Dc 6 in second chain from hook (6 dc)
Round 2: 2 dc in each st around (12 dc)
Round 3: (Dc 1, 2 dc in next st) six times (18 dc)
Round 4 to 5 18 dc
Round 6 (Dc 2, 2 dc in next st) six times (24 dc)
Round 7 to 13 24 dc
Attach safety eyes, using the picture as a guide
Round 14 (Dc 2, dec) six times (18 dc)
Round 15 (Dc 1, dec) six times (12 dc)
Stuff the body
Round 16 Dec six times (6 dc)
Fasten off and weave in ends.
Ears (make 2 using main colour)
Ch 2
Round 1 Dc 6 in second chain from hook (6 dc)
Round 2 (Dc 1, 2 dc in next st) three times (9 dc)
Round 3 to 8 Dc 9
Round 9 (Dc 1, dec) three times (6 dc)
Round 10 Dc 6
Fasten off leaving a longish thread to attach ears to head.
Tail (using white)
Ch 2
Round 1: Dc 6 in second chain from hook (6 dc)
Round 2: (Dc 1, 2 dc in next st) three times (9 dc)
Round 3: Dc 9
Round 4: (Dc 1, dec) three times (6 dc)
Stuff lightly and fasten off leaving a longish thread to attach tail to body.
Sew on the eyes, if you haven’t used safety ones. Sew on ears and tail and embroider a little pink nose using the picture as a guide.
Make the little carrots on sticks as follows:
Little Carrots (using orange)
Ch 2
Round 1: Dc 5 in 2nd ch from hook (5 dc)
Round 2 to 3: Dc 5
Round 4: (Dc 1, 2 dc in next st) twice, dc (7 dc)
Round 5 to 6: Dc 7
Round 7: (Dc 1, dec) twice, dc (5 dc)
Stuff carrot and fasten off.
Join green yarn to top of carrot (ch 6, sl st to top of carrot) five times to make leaves
Fasten off, close gap and weave in ends.

Take a cocktail stick and glue the little carrot to the top. Flatten the bottom of the bunny to help him stand and give him the carrot stick to hold by poking into his side. Don’t worry he won’t feel a thing!
