Crochet Flower Bug Amigurumi

Materials:

Any Worsted Weight Yarn:
Small amount of light green, dark green and gold
Size G Crochet Hook, Fiberfill and Tapestry needle, 1 pair 12mm safety eyes

Optional Materials:

plastic pellets and scrap nylon if not using as a toy, blush for a little color and a small piece of white felt
Finished measurements: approx 6 and 1/2 inches long. Gauge is not really important for this little fellow. Using a different size hooks and yarns weight will give you a smaller or larger toy.

Helpful to read these before starting and maybe even again when it's time to put giraffe together.
*Pieces are crocheted in the round, do not join with slip stitch unless indicated in individual piece instructions.
*When stuffing pieces, try not to over stuff. Over stuffing will spread out your stitches making bigger holes and showing too much fiberfill.
*I like to use a stitch counter to count off my rows, or scrap paper to mark off. A stitch marker will come in handy when repeating rounds or you can pull through the beginning tail as you go to help you spot the beginning of each round.
*Important: do not close head until safety eyes has been fastened. Adding a tiny piece of white felt under your eyes will help them stand out. Cut two small circles of white felt (I trace around a small button, that is just slightly bigger then my eyes, this helps make a smoother circle). Cut a tiny slit in the center of the felt and insert the stem of the safety eye. Next stuff head and decide where you like your eyes. On my bug, I put them about 2 rounds out and 2 rounds up from center starting hole. Having your nose finished, helps with deciding where your eyes should go. Once you have decided where to put your eyes, remove the stuffing (holding eyes in place, or mark position with a tiny pen mark) and attach the back fasteners. Then re-stuff and close. To close, thread tapestry needle with ending tail, weave through remaining stitches and pull tight to close.

28: sc2tog, sc in each remaining sc (10), join with ss. FO, leave a long tail for sewing. Thread tapestry needle with ending yarn, weave through remaining stitches, pull tight to close.

Nose

with dark green
1: ch 2, 6 sc in 2nd ch from hook, join with ss. FO. Weave in ends
Antennae (make 2)
with dark green
1: ch 5, 3 sc in 2nd ch from hook, ss in each remaining ch. FO, leave a long tail for sewing. Weave in beginning tail. Use ending yarn to sew onto head.
Eyelids (make 2)
with light green
1: start with a long tail, ch 5. FO. Thread needle with one end. Insert needle right next to inside corner of right eye, bringing needle out under head where stitches will not be seen. Thread other end, insert needle about 1 stitch out from other corner of eye. Bring needle back down through head, right next to beginning piece. Secure ends, cut and repeat for the other eye.

with yellow yarn
1: join with ss in first sc, *sc, hdc, dc in same sp, dc, tr, dc in next sc, dc, hdc, sc in next sc*, repeat between *'s to end. FO. Sew or tie under bugs neck.
