We’ll now briefly switch to rows
Row 10: sc 4, turn (4 stitches)
Row 11: sc 4 (4 stitches)
Fasten off, leaving a long tail for sewing. Stuff the trunk.
After you sew the trunk onto the head you can make the trunk curve up by tying some wool at the bottom, weaving it in and out of the top of the trunk, pulling it tight and then tying the wool to the head.

Tusks
With 2.5 mm hook and 4 ply white wool
Round 1: 4sc in magic ring (4 stitches)
Then sc around until the tusk is 5 cm long.
Fasten off, leaving a long tail for sewing.
After you sew each tusk onto the head you can make the tusk curve up by tying some wool at the bottom, weaving it in and out of the top of the tusk, pulling it tight and then tying the wool to the head.
Assembly
Sew the legs and tail onto the body. Sew the ears, trunk, tusks and googly eyes onto the head. Make the trunk and tusks curve up using the method described above.
The fur
With a 4 mm hook and 4 ply wool, attach wool on the top of the body, chain 15, slip stitch back along the chain, slip stitch 3 along the body – repeat in a circular pattern starting at the top of the back and spiralling down the body. When you have gone around the back a few times and the head is getting in the way of your spiral then turn and do the hairs in rows instead of rounds. Also, at that point you should shorten the hairs to 10 chains – at least that was the plan. I had to go back and do some extra hairs to cover up some bald patches. I hope you are all better mammoth hair stylists than me.
Do the same on the head except ch 6 and slip stitch 2 between hairs. You’re just trying to give her a funny haircut.
You’ll need to weave in the ends to keep the fur tidy. Also, your mammoth will be having a very bad hair day until you block (straighten) her fur. You need to pin her fur down with stainless steel needles, wet it and wait for it to dry.
