Crochet Autumn Pumpkin

The Crochet Autumn Pumpkin is a charming and cozy addition to your fall decor. This whimsical creation is perfect for bringing a touch of warmth and creativity to your home as the leaves start to change color and the air gets crisper. Whether you're a beginner or a seasoned crocheter, crafting your very own pumpkin can be a delightful and rewarding experience. With its earthy hues and intricate detailing, this crochet project is sure to bring a smile to your face every time you see it. Embrace the autumn spirit and get ready to showcase your handmade pumpkin with pride!

Skill Level-Easy

Gauge- Not important
Worsted Weight Yarn Colors-
.35 oz Peaches & Creme Earthy Orange Cotton Yarn
Less than .05 oz Peaches & Creme Amber Cotton Yarn

Materials-
F/5 (3.75 MM) crochet hook
Yarn or tapestry needle
Scissors
Stitchmarkers
Polyester Fiberfill

Special stitches-This design works best if you use June Gilbank’s Invisible Decrease instead of a typical Decrease stitch. A typical Decrease stitch can be used, but I like it best with the Invisible version.

Abbreviations-
Rnd…Round Sc…..Single Crochet
Ch….Chain St(s)..Stitch(es)
Inc….Increase Dec…Decrease
Rep…Repeat Sl St..Slip Stitch

Pumpkin
Use Earthy Orange yarn. Starting at the top of the pumpkin:
Rnd 1: Sc 8 in magic ring OR Ch 2, Sc 8 in 2nd ch from hook
Rnd 2: Inc 8 (16 sts)
Rnd 3: (Sc 2 in one st, Sc 3 in the next) rep 8 times. The edges of the piece will begin to waffle; don’t worry, that’s supposed to happen. (40 sts)
Rnd 4: (Dec, Inc 3) rep 8 times (56 sts)
Rnd 5: (Dec, Sc 5) rep 8 times (48 sts)

Rnd 6: [Dec, (Inc, Sc) rep 2)] rep 8 times (56 sts)
Rnd 7: (Dec, Sc 3, Dec) rep 8 times (40 sts)
Rnd 8: (Dec, Sc, Dec) rep 8 times (24 sts)
Rnd 9: (Dec, Sc) rep 8 times (16 sts)
Stuff very carefully, making sure to get stuffing in each lobe of the pumpkin. Don’t overstuff or the pumpkin will lose its shape.
Rnd 10: Dec 8 (8 sts)
Rnd 11: Dec 4 (4 sts)
Finish off with a sl st. I used the remaining end to stitch from top to bottom several times to form a small indentation at the top and bottom of the pumpkin before tying it off.

Stem
Use Amber yarn.
Row 1: Ch 5
Row 2: Starting in the 2nd ch from the hook, Sc 1. Sl st 3.

Finish off with a sl st.

Finishing-
Sew the stem to the top of the pumpkin and draw any remaining ends back into the pumpkin to hide them.
