Materials Needed


  • Bulky Yarn, 127 yards (I used one skein of Lion's Pride Woolspun in Plum)
  • K hook
  • hair elastic

  • ch = chain
  • sc = single crochet
  • hdc = half-double crochet
  • dc = double-crochet
  • sl st = slip stitch
  • fpdc = front-post double crohet
  • bpdc = back-post double crochet
  • Crochet Pattern

  • Row 1: Join yarn to hair elastic. Sc 22 around hair elastic. Join with sl st to first sc.
  • Row 2: Ch 2 (doesn't count as first dc). *Dc in next st, inc in next* repeat around. Sl st to first dc. (33)
  • Row 3: Ch 2. *Dc in next 2, inc in next* around. Sl st to first dc. (44)
  • Row 4: Ch 2. *Dc in next 3, inc in next* around. Sl st to first dc. (55)
  • Row 5: Ch. Hdc in 3rd loop around. Sl st to first hdc. (55)
  • Row 6: Ch 2. Dc in back 3rd loop around. Sl st to first dc. (55)
  • Row 7: Ch 2. Dc around. Sl st to first dc. (55)
  • Row 8: Ch 2. Hdc in 3rd loop around. Sl st to first hdc. (55)
  • Row 9: Ch 2. Dc in 3rd loop around. Sl st to the first dc. (55)
  • Row 10: Ch 2. Dc around. Sl st to the first dc. (55)
  • Row 11: Ch 2. Hdc in 3rd loop around. Sl st to the first hdc. (55)
  • Row 12: Ch 2. Dc in 3rd loop around. Sl st to the first hdc. (55)
  • Row 13-15*: Ch 2. *2 fpdc, 2 bpdc* repeat around. Sl st to first dc. (55)

    *You can add an extra row of brim if desired. The first time I made the hat, my gauge was a bit tighter and I needed an extra row of length. This time 3 rows of brim was perfect.

    Finish off and weave in ends.
