  • 2 ounces of worsted weight cotton yarn
  • (makes a set of 4 coasters)
  • Crochet hook size G

Ch 2

Row 1: Sc in the second ch from hook; ch 1, turn

Row 2: 2 sc in the sc on row 1; ch 1, turn

Row 3: 2 sc in each sc; ch 1, turn

Row 4: 2 sc in the first sc, sc in each of the next 2 sc, 2 sc in the last

sc; ch 1, turn

Row 5: 2 sc in the first sc, sc in each of the next 4 sc, 2 sc in the last

sc; ch 1, turn

Row 6: 2 sc in the first sc, sc in each of the next 6 sc, 2 sc in the last

sc; ch 1, turn

Row 7: Sc in each sc across (10 sc); ch 1, turn

Row 8: 2 sc in the first sc, sc in each of the next 8 sc, 2 sc in the last

sc; ch 1, turn

Row 9: Sc in each sc across (12 sc); ch 1, turn

Row 10: 2 sc in the first sc, sc in each of the next 10 sc, 2 sc in the

last sc; ch 1, turn

Rows 11- 13: Sc in each sc across (14 sc); ch 1, turn

Row 14: Decrease over the first 2 sc (to decrease, draw up a loop in

each of the two indicated stitches; yo, draw through all three loops),

sc in the next 5 sc (leave the rest of the stitches unworked); ch 1,

turn

Row 15: Decrease over first 2 sc, sc in the next 4 sc; ch 1, turn

Row 16: Decrease over the first 2 sc, sc in the next sc, decrease over

the last 2 sc. Fasten off.

Second lobe of heart:

Row 14: Attach yarn with a sc in the first unworked sc of row 13, sc

in the next 4 sc, decrease over the last 2 sc; ch 1, turn

Row 15: Sc in the first 4 sc, decrease over the last 2 sc; ch 1, turn

Row 16: Decrease over the first 2 sc, sc in the next sc, decrease over

the last 2 sc. Do not fasten off.

Edging

Round 1: Continue working sc all around the perimeter of the heart.

Join with a sl st to the first sc.

Round 2: (Ch 1, sl st in the next sc) in each sc around. Fasten off.

Weave in ends.
