What you will need for the Darling Daisy Hot Pat crochet pattern

  1. Worsted Weight #4 cotton yarn
  2. 70 yards – white; 70 yards – yellow
  3. 5.00 mm (H) hook
  4. Yarn Needle
  5. Scissors

Pattern Notes

* Advanced beginner pattern.

** Written in US crochet terms.

* You wil hold 2 strands of yarn together to make hot pad.

** Finished size =10″ across (from tip of petal to tip of petal).

* Gauge: From center of hot pad to edge of Rnd 2 = 2″.

** Chain stitch at the beginning of Rnd does not count as a stitch.

When working the sc3l or hdc3l you wil be working into the 3rd loop on the back.

** When working Rnds 2, 4, 6 &8 you wil see “join” and that means to use the invisible join method on those Rnds. You will not join the other Rnds unless otherwise stated in the pattern instructions.

hdc = half double crochet

hdc inc = half double crochet increase

hdc3l inc =half double crochet 3rd loop increase

join = Invisible Join Method (See photos 1 – 3 below.)

MC = Magic Circle

rep = repeat

Rnd(s) = Round(s)

sc = single crochet

sc inc = single crochet increase

sc3l inc = single crochet 3rd loop increase

sk = skip

slst = slip stitch

st = stitch

Body:

With yellow yarn (or color of choice)

MC, ch 1.

Rnd 1:

8 hdc in MC. (8 hdc)

Rnd 2:

hdc inc in each st around, join, ch 1. (16 hdc)

Rnd 3:

*hdc3l inc, hdc3l in next st; rep from * around. (24 hdc)

Rnd 4:

*hdc inc, hdc in next 2 st; rep from * around, join, ch 1. (32 hdc)

Rnd 5:

*hdc3l inc, hdc3l next 3 st; rep from * around. (40 hdc)

Rnd 6:

*hdc inc, hdc next 4 st; rep from * around, join, ch 1. (48 hdc)

Rnd 7:

*hdc3l inc, hdc3l in next 5 st; rep from * around. (56 hdc)

Rnd 8:

*hdc inc, hdc in next 6 st; rep from * around, join. (64 hdc)

PETALS

With white yarn (or color of choice)

Rnd 9:

ch 1, *sc3l inc, sc3l in next 7 st; rep from * around, slst to join. (72 sc)

Rnd 10:

slst next st, *ch 9, slst in beginning sc (this closes the loop), working in each ch st around the loop, turn the hot pad to slst in first 4 ch of loop, in 5th ch [slst, (ch 2, slst in 2nd ch from hook), slst], slst in next 4 ch, slst in beginning sc, sk a st, slst in next 2 st; rep * around, slst in last st, slst to join to 1st slst. (24 Petals)

Finish off and weave in ends.
