ED100-24 Steel (MC) – 1 ball
ED100-37 Fluorescent Yellow (CC1) – 1 ball
ED100-43 Wild Blue (CC2) – 1 ball
ED100-39 Bright Violet (CC3) – 1 ball

Hook: US Size J-10 (6 mm) crochet hook or size needed to obtain gauge
Notions: Tapestry needle, 3-1” buttons, removable stitch marker, sewing needle and thread, 3” pom pom maker or faux fur pom poms.

15 sts x 8 rows = 4" in patt st

Pattern Stitch (multiple of 3 sts + 1; add 2 for foundation ch)
Row 1: 2 Dc in 3rd ch from hook, * skip 2 ch, (1 sc, 2 dc) in next ch; rep from * to last 3 ch, skip 2 ch, sc in last ch, turn.
Row 2: Ch 2, 2 dc in first sc, * skip 2 dc, (1 sc, 2 dc) in next sc; rep from * to last 3 sts, end skip 2 dc, sc in 2nd ch of beg ch-2, turn.
Rep Row 2 for patt.

Stripe Sequence
6 rows MC, 2 rows CC1, 4 rows CC2, 2 rows CC3, 2 rows CC1.


HAT
Brim
With MC, ch 18. Work even in patt st, beg with Row 1, working Stripe Sequence once.
Work even in patt with MC until Brim measures 22”, ending with a WS row.

Buttonhole Row (RS): Ch 3, 2 dc in first sc, * sk 2 dc, sc in next sc, ch 3, sk 2 dc, (1 sc, 2 dc) in next sc; rep from * once more, sk 2 dc, sc in 2nd ch of beg ch-2.

Crown
Turn work 90 degrees, to work along side. Bring beg ch edge around and overlap under Buttonhole edge so that Brim forms a tube with a 1” overlap.
Rnd 1: With MC, work 4 sc through overlap, evenly work 86 sc around (approx. 2 sc per row) – 90 sc.
Place marker in 1st st of rnd. Work in continuous spiral moving marker each rnd.
