MATERIALS
- Stylecraft Special DK (DK weight; 295 m per 100g; 100% acrylic) x 1 ball in Vintage Peach
- Hobbii Rainbow Cotton 8/8 (DK weight; 100% cotton; 75m /82 yds per 50g /1.75 oz ball) x 1 ball in White
- Please note the yarn quantity has been calculated to the best accuracy. However, the overall amount you will need is tension dependant.
- 5 mm crochet hook
- Yarn needle
- Scissors
STITCHES AND ABBREVIATIONS (US CROCHET TERMS)
ch – chain stitch
sc – single crochet
st(s) – stitch(es)
rep – repeat
sc – single crochet
tr – treble crochet
sl st – slip stitch
FINISHED SIZE
13 cm / 5 inch at the widest point x 11.5 cm /4.5 inch height
GAUGE / TENSION
17 sts x 7 rows = 5 x 5 cm / 2 x 2 inch
CROCHET HEART COASTER PATTERN NOTES
- the heart is made up from a simple square worked in single crochet stitch
- the square is then turned into a heart shape by working two large shell stitches across two sides of the square
- the shell stitches consist of 13 treble crochet stitches
- the coaster is then finished off with a round of single crochet to tidy up the edges
Crochet Heart Coaster Main Pattern
For the pink heart, please hold two strands of yarn together.
For white heart I used a single strand.
Both heart were made with 5 mm crochet hook.
Chain 12.
Row 1: starting in 2nd ch from hook, work 1 sc in each ch across to end, turn. [11 sc]
Row 2-11: 1 ch (doesn’t count as a stitch), 1 sc across, turn. [11 sc]
Row 12: miss 5 sts, work 13 tr into the next st, sl st to last st to fix the shell into position, do not turn.
Row 13: counting down the side of the square, miss 5 end row sts, work 13 tr into the next end row st, sl st into last end row st, do not turn.
Next rnd: work 1 sc into each ch on the underside of the foundation ch (11 sc), 1 sc into each end row st on the opposite side of the square until you reach first tr st (11 sc).
*Work 1 sc into top of next tr, 1 ch; repeat from * across first shell ending with sc into the last tr, sl st into next sl st.
*Work 1 sc into top of next tr, 1 ch; repeat from * across second shell ending with sc into the last tr, sl st into first sc to join.
Fasten off.
Sew in all ends securely.
It is a great pattern but it was a little confusing but you will get it
