Using MC – Ch3 and slp st in 1st ch to form a ring (you can ch4 if you like, but I like a tighter circle. If you are a beginner you may want to ch4)

RND 1:

ch3(this will count as 1dc) 12 dc in ring, join in third ch of beginning ch3 (13dc)

RND 2:

ch3 dc in joining st; 2 dc in each stitch around, and join in third ch of beginning ch3 (26 dc)

RND 8:

sc in each stitch around, join to top of first sc (53 sc)

RND 9:

ch 1 sc in joining st, ch 3 * skip 2 sc, sc in nxt st, ch 3, repeat between * * around, join in first scmade. (18 arches)

RND 11:

ch2, 2 hdc in arch-(putting hook under arch and pull up loop) * 1 hdc in sc, 2 hdc in arch* repeat between * * around, drop CC to the back, and pull up the MC joining in 2nd ch of beginning ch 2 (54 hdc this include ch2)

ch 1, sc in joining stitch and in each stitch around, drop MC to the back pull up the CC & join in the first sc made. (55 sc)

RND 15:

ch 1, sc in joining stitch and in front loop only (this is done to prepare for the earflap attachment, as you will be executing sc’s and attaching the earflap in the unused back loop) of each stitch around, slip stitch in the first sc made. (55 sc)

RND 16:

sc in joining st, (Please sc in normal fashion using the both loops throughout the rest of the pattern) 2 sc in nxt st, *sc in nxt stitch, 2 sc in nxt st* repeat between * * around.
